How and Why to be a Keyboard Warrior for Kamala
Democrats are losing the online information war. A guide on what you can do to help Kamala win.
Democrats are losing the online information war. Elections nowadays are incredibly competitive, and there are several ways that voters get their information. Whether or not a voter swings Democrat is heavily dependent on how they get that information. Check out this graph (source):
When voters pay attention to traditional media (digital news, national news, and newspapers), and they are informed with real facts, they swing heavily Democrat. When they get their information from social media, they swing Republican. This is for three main reasons:
Misinformation is rampant on social media. There are no filters for false and misleading content.
The algorithm prioritizes sensationalism over truth. The more salacious a piece of content is, the more likely the algorithm will boost it. Haitian immigrants eating cats and dogs? Boost that over Kamala talking about her economic plan.
Republicans are better organized online. They’re the ones amplifying conspiracy theories, or tearing down women posting their heartfelt stories about abortion.
We have to fight back. There is a huge opportunity for Democrats to make up ground on social media. We need to tilt the information war back towards Democrats. And that’s where you come in.
